Unfurling Flag Day and Canadian Weather

Brooklinites were celebrating the 60th National Flag Day at the Brooklin Community Centre last Saturday, February 15.  We had speakers Ted Barris sharing stories about Canadians involved in the 1st World War, Randy Barber recounting notable events of the 2nd World War, and John Prince who delivered the newest rendition of his song, “It’s Good to be Canadian”.  This was followed by refreshments, (“Thank You” Tim Horton’s) and prizes including Flag Kits sponsored by Home Hardware with support of many contributors, including my husband’s employer, AMJ Campbell Van Lines. Thank you John and Linda Hawco, and so many others for organizing  the event.

And in True North fashion, it was snowing throughout the celebration.

Tucker and Bodhi nonplussed by the volume of snow enveloping them.

All kidding aside, and as much as we love to lament about our winter weather, we also love the fact that we are Canadians.  For every challenge we face, from 55 cm of snow in 11 days, to political disagreements and bureaucratic over-reach, “We’re Sorry”, but we are still proud Canadians… until the next dump of snow!

From the comfort and protection of my heated office,

Dr.K
